Attraction Description / Itinerary : A visit to Ephesus, once the commercial center of the ancient world, is one of the true highlights of any trip to Turkey. This extraordinary ancient city, whose great wealth and patronage supported its impressive architectural achievements, was dedicated to the goddess Artemis. Her magnificent temple, once regarded as one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, was rebuilt several times, with its final form dating back to the 3rd century BC.
As you explore the ruins of Ephesus, you will encounter remarkable landmarks such as the grand theatre, gymnasium, agora, Roman baths, and the iconic Library of Celsus, all reflecting the city’s former glory and cultural importance.
The tour also includes a visit to the House of the Virgin Mary, located on Bulbuldagi (Mount Koressos). According to historical records, St. John brought the Virgin Mary to Ephesus after the death of Jesus Christ, and she spent her final years in this modest stone house built especially for her. Today, the House of Mary is a sacred pilgrimage site for both Christians and Muslims. It has received official recognition from the Vatican, and every year on August 15th, a special commemoration ceremony is held by Christian pilgrims from around the world.
