Attraction Description / Itinerary : The travertine rock formations of Pamukkale are one of the most-visited attractions in southwestern Turkey. This full-day tour takes you to see the famous white terraces and limestone slopes, and visit the hot springs that lay at the center of the ancient Greek city of Hierapolis.
After a pickup from your hotel, take a ride past the scenic lakes and mountains of southern Turkey, and stop at an onyx workshop to observe the local craft. Once you arrive at the village of Pamukkale, admire the dazzling white terraces, saturated with dissolved calcium bicarbonate from the nearby Cal Dagi Mountains.
In the archaeological zone of Hierapolis to the west of the village, you can see the Temple of Apollo and a restored 2nd-century Roman theater that features an amazing amount of intact, elaborate reliefs. You can still see the colonnades of the ancient main street, as well as the elaborate tomb of Flavius Zeuxis, a part of the largest necropolis in Asia Minor.
After a look at the museum housed in the restored Roman baths, it's time for the return trip to your hotel.
